The Northwest Indiana Success By 6 early childhood development initiative is led by the Lake Area United Way, United Way of LaPorte County and United Way of Porter County. United Way’s work in early childhood intervention is based on a belief that all children must be prepared to enter school ready to learn. There are 61,455 children under age six who live in Lake, Porter and LaPorte Counties (Northwest Indiana). Numerous government agencies, nonprofit organizations and small businesses provide services to our region’s young children and their families. Yet, among those services there is duplication and little collaboration or communication. Northwest Indiana United Way Success By 6 will establish a common vision for school readiness and well-being of the region’s young children and develop a comprehensive strategic plan for accomplishing that vision.
It is our belief that we can work together toward a common vision, streamline service delivery, eliminate duplication of effort and provide the greatest benefit to the greatest number of children.
